Ada Marino

EXHIBITION

AT SAINT LAURENT RIVE DROITE LOS ANGELES

Calendar

Saint Laurent Rive Droite Los Angeles is pleased to host an exhibition by artist Ada Marino curated by Anthony Vaccarello.

Ada Marino is an Italian contemporary photographer, born in 1986 in Naples and living in Wales. Working at the intersection of photography and installation, her work focuses on the past events of her subjects, their memories, and their traumas. Her photographs are often disturbing and try to conceptualize repulsion and attraction to reassess the notion of ugliness. Her work is often introspective, exploring her own experiences and family memories to address the universal themes of identity and memory. She uses photography as a way to understand and reconcile her past with her present, and her work often includes portraits of family members, characteristic childhood places and personal objects that evoke fragments of her family history.

As a woman, mother and visual activist, her work concentrates specifically on women, representing and documenting their experiences. As such, she embraces causes, concerns, and questions of gender that women face, as well as the daily stereotypes against which they have to fight.

A selection of her work will be exhibited at the Saint Laurent Rive Droite store in Los Angeles from October 23rd to November 5th. A fanzine will be available as well.
